Rachael Ward appointed Children's Guardian

The NSW Government has appointed Ms Rachael Ward as Children's Guardian, effective 4 February 2026.

Ms Rachael Ward has been appointed as the Children’s Guardian for NSW for a term of 5 years.

Acting in the role since March 2025, Ms Ward has demonstrated strong and stable leadership as the head of the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG).

Ms Ward said she felt privileged to lead the organisation and work alongside the dedicated people of the OCG.

"I am deeply grateful for the professionalism, commitment and care for children, young people and those living with a disability I've experienced in my time with the organisation, particularly during a period of change and challenge. I look forward to our continued work to make NSW safer for children and young people, and people living with disability," Ms Ward said.
