Update to Employer Authority fees to support children’s safety in NSW

The Office of the Children’s Guardian has announced an update to Employer Authority fees, effective from 1 July 2026.

Employer Authority fees have been unchanged since 2015. Since that time, costs associated with administering the Children’s Employment Program have increased significantly.

The fee increase supports the ongoing delivery of a robust regulatory framework for the safe employment of children in the entertainment, exhibition, modelling and still photography sectors. The increase remains well below the estimated 36% in CPI since 2015.

Existing exemptions, including fee free arrangements for arts students, remain unchanged. From July 2027, fees will be indexed annually in line with CPI to provide transparency and certainty for the sector.
