Developing a code of conduct

A Code of Conduct is an important part of an organisation’s child safe approach. It helps manage risks to child safety that may arise through adult interactions with children and young people. The purpose of a Code of Conduct is to establish a clear set of rules and expectations for behaviour that is in line with an organisation’s culture and values.

Having clear rules and expectations of how adults are expected to interact with children works to prevent child abuse and encourage reporting. It also creates positive expectations for the behaviour of all adults in your organisation.

This webinar provides an in-depth look at how to develop or expand on your code of conduct within your organisation and therefore help to minimise child abuse occurring.

This session is intended for people who are responsible for developing and understanding child safety within their organisation including leaders, managers and HR personnel.

The 10 Child Safe Standards were enacted into legislation in NSW on 1 February 2022. They  provide a framework for organisations to create and maintain environments that support children and young people to feel and be safe and for organisations to meet their legal obligations of the Child Safe Scheme.
