Sole traders may be independent workers such as tutors, coaches or entertainers who need to have their Check verified by clients.

A sole trader who employs people is considered an employer by the Office of the Children's Guardian and must register, verify their employees and keep a record.
If you are a sole trader who works alone, give your clients your;
- Working with Children Check number
- surname
- date of birth
Your clients then need to verify your Working with Children Check number.
To verify someone, your client needs to either fill in the online form or use the QR code on the Service NSW app.
