The Office of the Children’s Guardian operates under a framework of legislation.

The Office of the Children’s Guardian is established under the Children’s Guardian Act 2019. Our legislative framework also includes other Acts and Regulations relating to child protection and working with children.

The Children’s Guardian reports to Parliament and the Minister for Families and Communities; Minister for Disability Services.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee on Children and Young People monitors the administration of the Working with Children Check.
