Developing a risk management plan

This session is for workers in Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC) who are responsible for developing and understanding child safety within their organisation. The 10 Child Safe Standards were enacted into legislation in NSW on 1 February 2022. They provide a framework for organisations to create and maintain environments that support children and young people to feel and be safe, and for organisations to meet their legal obligations under the Child Safe Scheme. In addition, the SSRC Code of Practice requires risk management planning for children in overnight placements.

Risk management is a tool that leaders of child-related organisations can use to improve their child-safe practices. A core component of Standard One says: ‘Risk management strategies focus on preventing, identifying and mitigating risks to children’. Leaders are responsible for keeping children safe in their organisations. This webinar help you develop strategies using the two risk management resources.

This webinar includes participation activities, so we recommend downloading the Risk Management resources and familiarising yourself with the content. We'll be referring to this throughout the session and in the activities.
