Amendments to the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013 will impact who needs a WWCC, and how certain applicants will need to provide proof of identity.
The following changes will apply from 18 July 2022
- Authorised carers/household members may provide proof of identity in a manner approved by the Children's Guardian if they are physically incapable, whether for medical or other reasons, of attending a SNSW service centre to provide proof of identity.
- All residential care workers, regardless of whether they are authorised as authorised carers, will be required to pay the Working with Children Check application fee.
- Members of governing bodies who reside interstate will be required to attend a SNSW service centre to provide proof of identity.
From 1 September 2022, the following will be required to hold a Working with Children Check clearance:
- Members of the governing body of an entity providing specialised substitute residential care.
- Principal Officers of entities providing specialised substitute residential care.
- Heads of child safe organisations.
