Acting Children’s Guardian announced

The NSW Government has appointed Ms Rachael Ward Acting Children's Guardian, effective today.

Ms Ward is Director, Child Law, at the Department of Communities and Justice, and will serve as Acting Children’s Guardian while a ministerial enquiry into workplace culture and related issues takes place.

Mr Kinmond has stepped aside from the role while the inquiry goes ahead.

The terms of reference on the enquiry, led by Kate Eastman SC, has been published.

Ms Ward said she looked forward to maintaining the regulatory work of the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

‘Members of staff at the Office of the Children’s Guardian have given me a warm welcome, and we are all determined to provide continuity for stakeholders across NSW in support of services for children, young people and people with disability,’ Ms Ward said.

How to renew using digital proof of identity (POI)

You will need:

  • A MyServiceNSW account with the WWCC service added
  • 3 current identity documents including a NSW driver licence or photo card
  • a device with a working front camera for face verification.


If you're renewing a paid WWCC, you will also need a credit card, debit card, PayPal or PayID account.

If you have an expired WWCC clearance or have changed your name on your identity documents since the last time you renewed your WWCC, you can't renew using digital proof of identity.
