New Child Safe Sport eLearning has been developed in a joint project between the Office of Sport and the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

It is designed to help everyone involved with sporting organisations in NSW implement the Child Safe Standards.

Child-related sports and recreation organisations in NSW are part of the new Child Safe Scheme. This means that all organisations offering sport for children must implement the Child Safe Standards.

“We know that many sports clubs are run by time-poor volunteers, and they don’t have the resources to invest in training,” NSW Children’s Guardian, Janet Schorer says.

“This free eLearning aims to build a basic understanding of how to create, maintain and improve a child-safe culture in sports clubs. I’d encourage everyone who works or volunteers with children in sport to complete the eLearning. After all, keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility.”

The first module has basic, helpful information for any adults involved in sports and recreation – including administrators, volunteers, coaches and parents.

There will be 5 modules in total. Modules 2 to 5 will be aimed at leaders and managers. They will cover risk management, policy creation, recruiting suitable adults to work with children and reporting obligations.

Module 1 of the Child Safe Sport eLearning can be accessed alongside our other free courses.
