Children’s Guardian Steve Kinmond spoke at the forum, along with representatives from Office of Local Government and the Office of Sport.

Mr Kinmond outlined the role of the Office of the Children’s Guardian in overseeing how organisations, including local government, implement the Child Safe Standards.

‘My team is committed to taking a proactive, preventative approach to ensuring compliance with the Child Safe Scheme by providing guidance and support to organisations and people responsible for the safety of children,’ Mr Kinmond said.

This includes providing a wide range of resources about putting the Child Safe Standards into action, including a free eLearning course created especially for local government organisations.

The forum was held on 14 September, hosted by Cumberland City Council and supported by the NSW Child Safe Councils Network.
