Office of the Children’s Guardian continues work as inquiry announced

Minister for Families and Communities, Kate Washington, has announced that she will establish a special inquiry to investigate workplace allegations involving Children’s Guardian Steve Kinmond OAM.

Mr Kinmond has agreed to step aside from this position while the inquiry takes its course.

General Counsel at the Office of the Children's Guardian, Sharminie Niles, is fulfilling administrative functions as Head of Agency while the NSW Government seeks permission from the Governor to appoint an Acting Children’s Guardian.

‘The Office of the Children’s Guardian will continue its work as a regulator for the safety and wellbeing of children and people with disability in NSW,’ Ms Niles said.
