Working with Children Week 2025 is celebrated 23 - 29 June. We know that there is more to working with children than just seeing if our workers and volunteers have a WWCC. Keeping children safe means we prioritise being up to date with the skills and knowledge required to keep children safe

This year’s Working with Children Week 2025 theme ‘Partners in keeping children safe’ means working with experts like the OCG to make sure our staff have the skills and knowledge to keep children safe.

Working with Children Week is a chance to celebrate those who put children first. Our team is committed to provide safe, quality services for your children by maintaining a culture of continuous professional learning.

Working with Children Week 2025 is 23 - 29 June and I want to thank you for all that you do every day. We contribute to the lives of many children and as a leader, I want to make sure you are supported in your knowledge of how to keep children safe.

The Working with Children Check (WWCC) should already be a part of how you find new staff or volunteers to work with children in your setting, but putting children first is more than just a number.

Please make sure you are registered as an employer with the Office of the Children’s Guardian and are verifying WWCC numbers online. This is the only way to know that someone is cleared to work with children and is a legal requirement.

We are also legally required to comply with the Child Safe Scheme. Please make sure you are familiar with the Child Safe Standards, and have started reviewing and aligning your policies and procedures with the Standards. The Office of the Children’s Guardian have recently published a range of Getting Started resources to help you do this.

The Office of the Children’s Guardian is proving a range of learning opportunities this week, take a look at their events page to see what's on.

If you need more support, you can contact the Office of the Children’s Guardian or [Your organisation’s child-safe contact details].

You can now renew your WWCC by using digital proof of identity – no need to visit a Service NSW Centre.
How to renew using digital proof of identity (POI)

    You will need:

    • A MyServiceNSW account with the WWCC service added
    • 3 current identity documents including a NSW driver licence or photo card
    • a device with a working front camera for face verification.

If you're renewing a paid WWCC, you will also need a credit card, debit card, PayPal or PayID account.

If you have an expired WWCC clearance or have changed your name on your identity documents since the last time you renewed your WWCC, you can't renew using digital proof of identity.
